It’s Tuesday again! Time for your weekly dose of the Spooky, culled from around the web, the world, and life. Every week I’ll have something new to send a shiver down your spine.
This week’s theme is…strange.
Chalk this one up to the bizarre. I’ve had a strange article sitting in my file for a few weeks now, waiting for the appropriate time to post it. It being Tuesday, that time is now. The trouble was, I didn’t have much to say about it. I mean, it was suitably creepy looking, no doubt about that, but there wasn’t anything to talk about. Until now.
The image itself was taken during what I expect was a storm. The photographer was just snapping pictures, and only upon viewing them later did he see it. I’ve seen this variously referred to as Satanic, creepy, and eerie. Two of those it most certainly is; one of those it is probably not. It’s Tuesday, so I won’t presume to tell you which one (although, I can say with certainty that this was not over the skies of Indiana, so make of that what you will).
This is what the photographer had to say about it:
“I was snapping pictures of the beautiful colors and textures created in the clouds by the sun setting. I take three pictures at a time for a quality check. I didn’t really notice what I caught until 20 minutes later when I showed my wife what great pictures I took.
Then we came across the picture I’m talking about, and we were baffled as to what it could be… I took two similar pictures before and the object was not there in the sky.
There were no birds around cause there aren’t any trees on this side of town, not really enough for much bird activity.”
Cool story. But at the bottom, he added this:
“So I thought why not go ahead and upload my picture to MUFON, maybe they have an answer to what this strange appearance in the sky could be. Mufon case 68439.”
MUFON? What’s that? Is it some vestigial arm of Project Blue Book? I had to know. I Binged “MUFON Case# 68439,” and I found the following information at UFO Stalker:
Cool, but that still didn’t tell me what MUFON was. Through UFO Stalker’s “help” page, I found a link to MUFON, where I learned that it stands for “Mutual UFO Network.” Neat. You can report your sighting there, and then I guess UFO Stalker pulls the information out of their database and presents it in a format that’s much easier to use. For example, it tells me that there are 52 other sightings in El Paso.
I’m not really into UFOs anymore, so I figured that would be that, but just to be thorough I did a Google Reverse Image Search on the Satanic figure. For those who don’t know, this tool is magic. You upload a picture, and it finds you similar pictures and websites that are likely to be related in some way to the picture. Sometimes that means the page hosts an image Google deems similar, and other times Google’s reasons are as opaque as ever.
So I did my search. And you know what I found? That’s right. Goatman: Flesh or Folklore? I’m not making this up.
I JUST wrote a post about Goatman’s Bridge. I’m going to Texas later this week just to see it. (Okay that’s a lie, I already had plans to go, but it sure ended up working out conveniently!) Don’t you think that might just be a little bit too much synchronicity?
Wake. Up. Sheeple! Or…goat people, or whatever. The point is, it’s Tuesday, and coincidences are Spooky. See you next week.
